| It's Time for 2008-2009 Rotaract
Elections Very soon, a new board will take the helm and bring our Rotaract club into its new year. Nominations for these positions were presented at our meeting on May 6. Elections will take place at the general meeting tonight. There will be voting for the four (4) elected positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Once these four are elected they will build the rest of their supporting board. The time between mid-May and July will allow for a better transition from the current board to the new board. We plan to mentor each new board member and provide experience and knowledge transfer for planning events and meetings in advance of taking office. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask Jeff, Kathy, or any member of our current or past boards. |

| Dues Are Due! It is that time of year again... Current Rotaract members, the semi-annual dues are $30. Membership dues help cover administrative costs as well as subsidize the many community service and social events Rotaract supports throughout the year. These events include the Rancho Jireh Picnic, the ice cream social and bingo at the senior center, as well as many more. For new members, once you have completed your membership requirements, there is a one time initiation fee of $28. This fee goes towards a snazzy Rotaract t-shirt, pin, and certificate. In addition, new members will also need to pay the $30 for semi-annual dues. The total amount for a new member is $58. You can pay your dues by attending a general meeting and giving a check or cash to the Treasurer, Steve Goodall. You can also pay with your credit card or bank account through PayPal. |

| Rotaract & Rotary Trivia Rotary Administration Rotary is organized at club, district, and international levels to carry out its program of service. Rotarians are members of their clubs, and the clubs are members of the global association known as Rotary International. Each club elects its own officers and enjoys considerable autonomy within the framework of the standard constitution and the constitution and bylaws of Rotary International. Clubs are grouped into 529 Rotary districts, each led by a district governor who is an officer of Rotary International and represents the RI board of directors in the field. Though selected by the clubs of the district, a governor is elected by all of the clubs worldwide meeting in the RI Convention. A 19-member board of directors, which includes the international president and president-elect, administers Rotary International. These officers are also elected at the convention; the selection process for choosing directors and the nominating committee for president are based on zones, each of which comprises approximately 15 districts. The board meets quarterly to establish policies. While the Rotary International president is the highest officer of RI, the chief administrative officer of RI is the general secretary, who heads a staff of about 600 persons working at the international headquarters in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, Illinois, USA, or in one of seven international offices around the world. |
| Contact Information If you have information, suggestions or feedback that you think the board might use to improve the club, we'd love to hear what you think, so please send your ideas to info@sandiegorotaract.org, snail-mail them to
