| Guest Speaker Tonight: Sandra
Schrift February 05 (Tuesday) 6:30 pm Kansas City BBQ, 610 W. Market Street Our guest speaker tonight will be Sandra Schrift. She will talk to us about "Why Can't You Be More Like Me? (Appreciating Individual Differences)". This is a talk she has done to numerous Rotary clubs in the past. Sandra Schrift is a member of our sponsoring club, the San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club An excerpt from Sandra Schrift's website: "A personal coach can do for your mind what a personal trainer does for your body! Coaching is becoming popular as time becomes more valuable. What would it be like for you to be wise, happy, and successful this year vs. waiting for a decade or two? Coach Schrift, who started the first national, professional Speakers Bureau in San Diego in 1982, now works with emerging and experienced speakers on reaching the next level in their speaking careers. Coach Schrift also loves to partner with business owners on growing themselves as well as their business. She typically coaches clients three times per month by telephone with email and fax support as needed. Her goal is to help you resolve problems and challenges in "real time" coaching." |

| World Food Cultural Contest Our sister chapter of Rotaract in Ankara, Turkey The Rotaract Club of Ankara Kavaklidere is sponsoring a World Food Cultural Contest. The first step is to enter a recipe from each participant's part of the world. After many good suggestions by our members, we've decided to enter a good old American stand-by, cheeseburgers! The next step to entering our recipe is to film some of our members preparing the food. The film will be placed on You Tube, along with other entries from clubs around the world which include Nepal, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Pakistan, Sicily and Malta chapters. Our sister club in Ankara prepared a short introductory video. There is an exciting reward waiting for the winners of the World Food Cultural Contest!!! Two members of the winning chapter of Rotaract will be hosted in Ankara, Turkey, for one week! This is a very exciting opportunity to be involved with Rotaract on an international level and we need everyone's support to make this happen. Please email Cade if you would like to be involved in filming, own a camera, or simply have some creative ideas about how to film our "cooking show". |

| Tijuana Homebuilding Update Unfortunately, as many of you know, we were unable to do our annual Tijuana Homebuilding event due to the devastating wild fires this past October. Though we weren't able to physically build the home, we've decided to still financially support the project. Our chapter of Rotaract is sending a $650.00 check to cover the expenses of building a home the Mexico Caravan Ministries. If you would like more information, please visit the Mexico Caravan Ministries website. |

| Rotaract & Rotary Trivia Rotary History: Room 711 Nearly 100 years after Paul Harris and his colleagues chartered the club that would become Rotary International, Rotarians continue to take pride in their history. In honor of the club that first gathered in Room 711, Rotarians have preserved the room in an extensive re-creation of the office as it existed in 1905. For several years, the club maintained the room as a shrine for visiting Rotarians. In 1989, when the Unity Building was scheduled to be demolished, Rotary's 711 Club carefully dismantled the office, salvaging the original interior, including doors and radiators. In 1993, the Board of Directors of Rotary International set aside a permanent home for the restored Room 711 on the 16th floor of RI World Headquarters in Evanston, Illinois. |
