Volunteer Opportunities with Rotary International

Once again the Rotary International Assembly is being conducted in San Diego at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel between January 28 and February 03. Incoming District Governors will begin their training on January 29. Here are the areas for which volunteers are needed:

The spouses of District Governors Elect from around the world will bring about 1,800 books to San Diego which will be personalized by them, packed, and delivered to local charities by District 5340 Rotary clubs. Volunteers are needed to assist with: packing, taping and moving filled boxes from Randall Ballroom to Manchester Grand Hyatt loading dock to truck(s).

If you can help out for a couple of hours, our sponsoring Rotary Club would greatly appreciate it! Plus, this is an excellent opportunity for prospective members to interact with our Rotarian friends – also counting toward membership requirements.

For more information, please email Bridget Johnson as soon as possible by/on Tuesday. Thank you!

Valentine's Desserts and Bingo at the Senior Center

February 17 (Saturday)
1:30 pm
Senior Center, 928 Broadway, Downtown

Join us for bingo and dessert with the seniors on Saturday, February 17th at 1:30 pm. Please plan on arriving in plenty of time to find street parking. Most of the streets in the area are metered, so bring plenty of change!

The senior center provides the bingo and we will provide the sweets. Please bring your favorite dessert such as cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc. to serve about 10-15 people.

Additionally, the center is also asking for us to provide some small prizes for the winners of the bingo games. Here's a list of the items the senior center recommended:
• T-shirts
• Lotion for dry-skin
• Flashlights with batteries
• Tote bags
• Umbrellas and rain coats/ ponchos
• McDonald’s coupon gift booklets
• Lap blankets
• Small food baskets with pop-top soups, stews, hot chocolate, snack crackers, etc.
• Board games like scrabble, checkers and chess
• Small boxes of laundry soap
• Dish soap
• 1lb. cans of coffee
If you are interested in bringing a prize, too, please contact Cade.
