Please note: There will be no meeting on October 31st! We are only meeting on the first and third Tuesday of each month. We're looking forward to seeing you in November! |

Culture & Cocktails, Part
II October 26 (Thursday) 6:00 - 8:00 pm San Diego Museum of Art, 1450 El Prado, Balboa Park 8:00 pm - ... Nunu's, 3537 Fifth Avenue, Hillcrest The October social event for The Rotaract Club of Downtown San Diego is the Culture & Cocktails event at the San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park. This was a social in July and it was a lot fun. The art museum turns into a club with a DJ, drinks, and performers. The museum website describes the event: "Following a sold-out event in July, the fall installment of Culture & Cocktails will feature the influential art of father and son artists Matta and Gordon Matta-Clark. Explore the groundbreaking exhibition Transmission: The Art of Matta and Gordon Matta-Clark and enjoy lively DJ'd music and refreshing cocktails in the rotunda." The cost is $10 and people are encouraged not to be late. At the last event there was a huge line to get in and the event sold out by the second hour. We will meet inside around the big fountain between 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The event ends at 8:00 pm and then we will meet up at Nunu's in Hillcrest and continue the cocktail party. Annual Thanksgiving Potluck at
the Toussaint Academy November 15 (Wednesday) Time TBA (evening) Toussaint Academy, corner of 5th Avenue and Ash Street, Downtown If you missed our community service event in October, you're in luck because you get another chance to meet the amazing kids at the Toussaint Academy!!! Or if you did attend the Life Skills Scavenger Hunt, you'll get to see some familiar faces at our next community service event. Our Annual Thanksgiving Potluck at the Toussaint Academy is scheduled for Wednesday evening, November 15th. We'll each bring a favorite Thanksgiving dish and all share a nice meal together. The Toussaint Academy, located downtown at the corner of 5th Avenue and Ash Street, is a group home that serves homeless youth in San Diego. Recap: Tijuana
Homebuilding The Tijuana Homebuilding event last Saturday was awesome. Fourteen Rotaract representatives travelled down to San Martin, Tijuana, to build a home for a local family. The family prepared a wonderful lunch for the volunteers, and the team members kept themselves committed and focused ... and also having fun! Participants really enjoyed the day – an incredible service and cultural experience as well as great teambuilding. A huge thank you to Chantelle Swaby and Dean Koci for organizing the trip and to all volunteers for their time and energy. |

Senior Center 2nd Saturday of each month Volunteers (2-3) are needed the 2nd Saturday of each month from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm to help serve lunch at the Senior Center Downtown. Please contact Cade for details and availability. |

Under the guidance of a sponsoring Rotary club, dedicated RCC members put their own skills to work to improve the quality of life in their communities. The purpose of the RCC program is to promote grassroots self-help projects, develop local leadership abilities, maximize local resources, and use appropriate cost-efficient technology. |
