Professional Development:
Attending Networking Events Some of our members are planning on attending the Chamber Mixer on Thursday, August 31st. Here are some tips our Professional Development Chair, Jeff, recently read to address when attending networking events: Create a goal for the event - For example, "I will meet 2 new people in my industry." Make a point to meet the Chamber staff as they will most likely prove to be great resources. Time is limited - Management of time is important if you have a large goal of meeting many different contacts. Ignore your friends unless they can introduce you to someone you would like to meet. Wear a nametag. Approach those you don't know and introduce yourself, but also introduce them to others you know. Ask about their business - You may have contacts who would be great customers for them. If so, offer the contact information. Don't offer business cards, unless requested. Follow-up the next day with a phone call to start building a relationship. Have a great time at the Mixer! Hopefully these tips will help it be a successful and developmental event. |

| Rotaract & Rotary Trivia Meet Our Sponsoring Rotary Club: The San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club The San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club was chartered on October 9, 1990 by a small group of representatives from the main Rotary Club (#33) that represents the downtown business community. The Club has approximately 110 active members that range in age from their late 20's to their 60's. The members represent a wide variation of professions and most, but not all, live or work in the downtown area. The Club is very active and supports a variety of private and public community organizations as well as health/social causes in metropolitan San Diego and across the border in Mexico. The Club meets every Wednesday morning at 7:15 a.m. in what many think is one of the most beautiful settings for any Rotary Club, at the University Club high atop the Symphony Towers building on the 34th floor. The location provides a 270-degree panoramic view of downtown San Diego, the bay, Pacific Ocean, Point Loma, and surrounding mountains. The view is unparalleled and provides a different backdrop for every meeting. Guests and visiting Rotarians consistently note that the upbeat tone of the club meetings, with good-natured teasing and laughter, make visiting the Downtown Breakfast Club a most enjoyable experience. Find out more about the Club on their website. |
