Next Meeting

Our next general meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at 6:30 pm at Kansas City BBQ, 610 W. Market Street, Downtown San Diego.

Important: Please remember that you can determine the future of our Rotaract club by voting for your favorite Rotaractors for the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary for the upcoming 2006-2007 Rotaract/Rotary year! More information below.

After our general meeting is over, we'll get together at a restaurant for an after meeting dinner. Check back next week for the details!

We're looking forward to seeing you there!
2006-2007 Rotaract Elections – Service Above Self

It is that time again! Rotaract Elections! Time for a new (and improved?) board to take the lead and bring Rotaract to its new year and new level! Here is the chance for you to become a part of a dynamic leadership group that will no doubt become part of your San Diego family.

New board members will take office July 1, 2006 but the voting is soon for "officers-elect" as additional time will allow for a better transition from the current board to the new board. We plan to mentor each new board member and provide experience and knowledge transfer for planning events and meetings in advance of taking office.

Voting is for the four (4) elected positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Once these four are elected they will build the rest of their supporting board.

Mark your calendars now as we need every member to participate in the voting process!

Important Dates:
May 02 2006-2007 Rotaract Vote
July 01 2006-2007 Board takes office

Please try to make it to this very crucial meeting where the future of Rotaract is determined!

If you have any questions or would like more information about the positions, please contact Andrea Espinoza.

Rotarians at Work Day on April 29th

April 29 (Saturday)
Tijuana & City Heights

April 29th is a huge day for Rotary District 5340! Rotarians and Rotaractors from all of San Diego and Mexico's 60 clubs are going into the community to promote Rotary and make a difference. Our sponsoring Downtown Breakfast Rotary has invited us to join with them in their two projects on April 29th. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow Rotarians, join together with fellow Rotaractors and help our local community.

Tijuana Homebuilding
Join the Downtown Breakfast Rotary as you'll cross the border into our neighboring Tijuana, Mexico and spend the day building homes for underprivileged families.

Rebuild San Diego
Join the Downtown Breakfast Rotary in restoring the home of an elderly woman, Louise, who lives in City Heights. We will be doing everything from fixing plumbing, to yard work, to painting, to decorating. Louise is in her late 70's, lives alone and simply needs some help with the more intensive repairs and deferred maintenance needs that have accumulated over the years.

*For new prospective members – participating in one of these events will count both towards your Rotary and Community Service Membership Requirements!*

To sign up for either of these events on April 29th, please contact Andrea Espinoza.
All District Rotaract Event: Beach Cleanup

May 06 (Saturday)
10:00 am (9:45 am)

Come join us Saturday, May 6th, at 10:00 am for an All Rotaract Event!

All San Diego Clubs are invited to help us clean up our beaches and then enjoy them. We will be meeting at 9:45 am for bagels to get us in the cleaning spirit. Then for the next hour or two we will see which team can collect the most rubbish. Afterwards we will reward the winner, and hang out. We are working with surfrider to pick which beach needs out help the most – most likely OB or MB.

4th Annual Ace of Hearts Fundraiser

AoH Logo 2006
June 01 (Thursday)
7:00 - 10:00 pm
Martini Ranch, Shaker Room
$30 entrance fee

The 4th Annual Ace of Hearts is only 5 weeks away! Ace of Hearts is a Monte Carlo Casino night, this year hosted at the Shaker Room at Martini Ranch on June 1st from 7-10 pm. We play poker, craps, blackjack and more... and all for a worthy cause.

As a response to Rotary International's 2005-2006 mission, we are joining the fight for clean water as millions of children die each year from contaminated water. This year, our profits from the event will benefit an organization called Water for Children Africa. This organization helps the rural poor in Africa obtain safe water and develop cottage industries while also developing policy for water usage in villages and responsibilities for ongoing maintenance.

As we get ready for this signature event, we invite you to get involved! Planning is on its way led by our two fearless Fundraising Chairs, Aaron Adragna and Danielle Esposito. Please see below the committees set up and get involved! This is definitely a team effort and you will be glad to have helped in such a worthy cause!

What a way to experience Rotaract!
