| Welcome Letter from the Rotaract Club of
Kavaklidere, Turkey We are very excited to participate in a cultural exchange this year with the Rotaract Club of Kavaklidere, Turkey. Our President and International Chair have been exchanging emails with their respective board members within the past few months and are excited to begin the cultural exchange with two of the most dynamic Rotaract clubs in the world! The president of the Kavaklidere club has written a welcome letter to our club and has included some brief information about their members, their culture and their country. Their cultural box is also on its way containing a home-made DVD from their members, some brochures about Kavaklidere and according to their president, "our best wishes and love from Turkey will be sent to you together with the package." Please join us at the next meeting where we will read the letter sent to us from this amazing club. We are also in the midst of forming a committee to do footage and gather San Diegan items to send to our fellow Rotaract club. Please contact Stacey to join this committee or for additional information. Please stay after our next meeting August 16th to brainstorm ideas for our exchange with the Kavaklidere Rotaract Club. Take a brief look at the Rotaract Club of Kavaklidere, Ankara, Turkey:

| Volunteering for the San Diego Festival of
Beer September 23 (Friday) 8:30 pm-Midnight Intersection of State & A Streets, Downtown The San Diego Festival of Beer is an event sponsored by the San Diego Professionals Against Cancer (SDPAC) that allows guests to sample beers from a large number of Microbreweries. SDPAC is a non-profit organization in the San Diego area that volunteers their time to help raise money to combat Cancer. This is your chance to help in that fight! The Rotaract Club of Downtown San Diego is partnering with them as volunteer bartenders for the night! This is a very fun event and over 3800 people attended last year. All volunteers must be at least 21 years old, attend a fifteen-minute orientation session (which will be given at the start of your shift), and sign a Responsibility Release Waiver. Beer Pouring volunteers will not be allowed to consume beer during their shift... but rumor has it that we'll be all heading downtown for our own fun after the event. Make sure to sign up at the meeting or contact Miguel to secure your spot for this fun event. See pictures from last year's SD Festival of Beer. |

Her Majesty Queen Noor Al-Hussein of Jordan "I would be proud and enthusiastic to be associated with Rotary in any way." Ted Turner, former head of Turner Broadcasting "Long ago, you created awareness, and took action. If I could, I would give each of you who have been involved in this monumental campaign a Champion award.
