Downtown & Sidebar

Our next social event will be held after our meeting on Tuesday, May 3. We’re planning to do a "Flyer Blitz" of the downtown area and then rendezvous at Sidebar for Ciro’s pizza and a well-deserved drink!

Please RSVP to Geoff to volunteer to be a part of the fun. We will be creating teams of 4-5 people to hand out flyers on the streets, get them placed in bookstores, coffee houses, restaurant waiting areas, bulletin boards, etc.

This counts as your social event requirement if you are a prospect working on membership. And we should be done passing out flyers by 9pm…stay at Sidebar as long as you like!!
Appointed Board Positions Available

There are 8 appointed positions to be filled so if you would like to be on the board, please make sure that your dues are paid, that your membership requirements have been filled, and that you express your interest to Andrea and her team as soon as possible! This is a very strong group and they are surely going to pick talented people to support them in their offices. Apply for a board position so you can be part of the fun. You’ll be amazed at how rewarding this experience can be.

Appointed Board Positions include: Community Service, Fundraising, Historian, International Liason, Professional Development, Public Relations, Sergeant at Arms, Social, Website.
Rotaract's District Project

April 30 (Saturday)
12:00 - 3:00 pm
Kansas City Barbecue

On Saturday, April 30th, Rotaract Clubs from across the region will come together for a day of service benefiting the City of Angels Orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico. This is a day to meet fellow members from UCSD, SDSU, PLNU, and the Lost Boys Rotaract clubs, as well as hear from a representative from the orphanage, who will be on-location to gather donations from all Clubs, and to share how YOUR donations will greatly benefit the 30 orphans currently calling City of Angels home.

It's not to late to sponsor an orphan. Cost is $50 per child. For those downtown members who have agreed to sponsor a child – Thank You! An email will be sent to you shortly with final details.

If you have any questions regarding this service project, please feel free to call or email Denisse Roldan at 619.992.8901 or denisse_roldan@hotmail.com.
West Coast Walk

May 01
2:00 pm
Maritime Museum

Rotary International Centennial Project: West Coast Walk.

You may have read about it in the news - Nathan Auerbach, endurance athlete, will be walking 2,200 miles from Tijuana to Vancouver, British Columbia over 100 days. The aim is to involve Rotary Clubs, Rotaract and Interact clubs and members of the public to raise $1 million for PolioPlus.

This is the biggest Rotary Centennial project in the world, and it is launching right in your city of San Diego on May 1st! There will be a television crew filming Nathan and the launch event, which will then be sent out via satelite to all the major national and international media channels (Video News Release). For this reason it is a great opportunity to publicise Rotary Interntational and Interact/Rotaract. The West Coast Walk organizers would love for our members to be able to attend this event.

The launch is being hosted at the Maritime Museum at 2pm on May 1st. West Coast Walk T-shirts are being printed which can be distributed to club members to wear for the event. T-shirts are available at the discount rate of $10, with all proceeds going to PolioPlus!

More information on the project is available on the website www.westcoastwalk.com, or please contact Clare King, Project Manager for West Coast Walk, who would be happy to assist in answering any queries.

If you would like to attend the event and/or would like to buy a T-Shirt, please contact Andrea or Geoff.
