| Guest Speaker Tonight: Dr. Jack
Gilbert April 19 6:30 pm KC BBQ Whether it's Enron, Martha Stewart or any other story, we could all name corporate scandals & situations that have made headlines recently. Business ethics is a hot topic, and applies to all industries and all companies, large and small. Over the course of working with hundreds of executives, business leaders, and employees, Jack Gilbert has ovserved the phenomenon of ethical erosion. Research shows that it is the small steps and small decisions that lead individuals and their organizations into ethical conflicts, a slippery slope that can ultimately undermine the organization's viability and credibility. Jack Gilbert, Ed.D., President of New Page Consulting, Inc, holds his doctorate from George Washington University, and he is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. For the past thirty years, Jack Gilbert has worked as a consultant, focusing on issues of leadership and large-scale change. His clients have included a broad array of industries including health care, financial services, retail/consumer, manufacturing, and more. On April 19, Jack Gilbert will join us to speak on an issue that has been & will always be important, but has surfaced more & more over recent years. We look forward to welcoming to address this subject and how it affects all of us. Here are some starting points to get you thinking about the topic... - 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2005 - Think we, "grown-ups," know it all? | West Coast Walk May 01 2:00 pm Maritime Museum Rotary International Centennial Project: West Coast Walk. You may have read about it in the news - Nathan Auerbach, endurance athlete, will be walking 2,200 miles from Tijuana to Vancouver, British Columbia over 100 days. The aim is to involve Rotary Clubs, Rotaract and Interact clubs and members of the public to raise $1 million for PolioPlus. This is the biggest Rotary Centennial project in the world, and it is launching right in your city of San Diego on May 1st! There will be a television crew filming Nathan and the launch event, which will then be sent out via satelite to all the major national and international media channels (Video News Release). For this reason it is a great opportunity to publicise Rotary Interntational and Interact/Rotaract. The West Coast Walk organizers would love for our members to be able to attend this event. The launch is being hosted at the Maritime Museum at 2pm on May 1st. West Coast Walk T-shirts are being printed which can be distributed to club members to wear for the event. T-shirts are available at the discount rate of $10, with all proceeds going to PolioPlus! More information on the project is available on the website www.westcoastwalk.com, or please contact Clare King, Project Manager for West Coast Walk, who would be happy to assist in answering any queries. If you would like to attend the event and/or would like to buy a T-Shirt, please contact Andrea or Geoff. |
