| Rotaract
& Rotary Trivia 2003-04 Outstanding Rotaract Project Winner International and East Asia The Rotaract Club of Muntinlupa Peace Maker, District 3830, Philippines, conducted a successful campaign to educate young people on the disastrous effects of drug use. The Rotaract club constructed a traveling educational project titled, "Movement Against Illicit Drugs," a collage of stage plays, music, rhetoric contests, and skill and talent competitions. Muntinlupa Peace Maker Rotaractors realized the growing concern in the community over the use and effects of illicit drugs. A more disturbing trend to the Rotaractors was that most residents were not informed on the types of drugs and the extent of the problem. To address these issues, the Rotaract club focused on a prevention campaign. The result was a cultural package designed to entertain as well as inform, with the main attraction, a pantomime, entitled, "Bohemian Rhapsody." With logistic, financial, and moral support from their sponsor, the Rotary Club of Muntinlupa Filinvest, the Rotaractors successfully brought their presentation to local schools and the community. Community members were impressed by the Rotaractors' efforts, and now have a greater awareness of the dangers of drugs. The club plans to continue the program by taking the show to surrounding communities. |
A special THANK YOU to the supporters and contributors of the 3rd Annual Jazz for Juvenile Diabetes!
