Jazz For Juvenile Diabetes Hand-Over Ceremony

Thanks to all the Rotaracters, friends, families, and our sponsors for a ground breaking event. Together, we raised over 33% more than last year’s event and what’s more, overall awareness of the need to find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes!

Don’t miss today's meeting when we will have a hand-over ceremony of the Jazz for Juvenile Diabetes proceeds! We will be presenting a check to Linda Riley, Executive Director of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation San Diego, to open our meeting and it is important that everyone arrives early so we can begin on time. Linda has another appointment after ours and cannot stay for the meeting so please show her your support by budgeting a few extra minutes to get to KC BBQ before 6:30 pm.

Congratulations to all on a job well done!!
Today: Guest Speaker From the SDCCC

Mr. Rudolph Johnson III
Vice President / Convention Center Director
San Diego Convention Center Corporation (SDCCC)

Ever wonder about that big building along San Diego Bay?
Ever wonder what goes on at a Convention Center?
Ever think about how the Convention Center may be tied to local government, military, & businesses?
How often do you think about the masses of people that flow into the downtown and surrounding areas to attend various events at the Convention Center?
How does the Convention Center have influence in your life???

On Tuesday (January 18), Mr. Johnson will speak about the San Diego Convention Center Corporation and how it impacts our city day after day, year after year. Johnson will also share with us information about his professional background, involvements and accomplishments.

Cheer on your favorite team at our annual football playoffs party in the back room at Kansas City BBQ! Kick-off for the NFC Championship game is at noon and the AFC Championship will begin right after the NFC game ends.
Be sure to participate in the football pool since half of the proceeds will go towards TJ Home Building! More information below.

For more information about the party or if you haven't received our evite yet, please contact Rose.
Football Squareboards Fundraiser

Football Squareboards to Raise Money for TJ Homebuilding

We’ll be playing our 2nd Annual Football Squareboards at the AFC/NFC Championship game party at Kansas City BBQ. We began selling squares (they cost $2 each) at our last meeting and we would like to be able to have all 200 sold by the end of today's meeting so we can draw the numbers and everyone can have their squares before they get to the party that day.

If you have no idea what any of that stuff means, don’t worry! You don’t need to know anything about football to win and remember, half of all the square money goes right to TJ Homebuilding (we will raise $200 toward next year’s houses through this game). Just bring $4 to the meeting on Jan. 18 and/or email Geoff with any questions.
San Diego Rotaract PR Contest

We are beginning a campaign for new PR ideas in 2005! Please contact Jomi with your most original idea for promoting Rotaract. The board will evaluate all submissions and will announce the best idea and implement your program!! Winner receives a prize...

Rotaract & Rotary Trivia

Centennial Bell
Similar to the traveling Olympic torch, five Rotary Centennial bells are circulating to clubs in every Rotary country, starting at the RI Convention in Brisbane, Australia, in June 2003. The bells' journeys will symbolize the internationality of Rotary as they crisscross the globe.
One bell will travel to the first 100 clubs to join Rotary International, while the others will travel to the first Rotary club formed in each country of four regions, according to RI archives: Asia and the Pacific; Latin American and the Caribbean; Africa; and Europe. Due to differences in shipping systems between countries in Africa, individual bells will be delivered by the district governors to the first clubs chartered in each country.
The bells' journeys will end in Chicago in June 2005 when they ring in the start of the centennial RI Convention.
To see where the bells have already traveled, please click here!
