Next Meeting

Our next general meeting – the first general meeting in 2005 – will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at 6:30 pm at Kansas City BBQ, 610 W. Market Street, Downtown San Diego.

The next meeting will begin at exactly 6:30!!! We will be presenting a check for Jazz for Juvenile Diabetes to Linda Riley from JDRF to open our next meeting. Linda cannot stay for the meeting, so please show her your support by arriving early! Check out more details here.

We're looking forward to seeing you there!
Jazz For Juvenile Diabetes Hand-Over Ceremony

Thanks to all the Rotaracters, friends, families, and our sponsors for a ground breaking event. Together, we raised over 33% more than last year’s event and what’s more, overall awareness of the need to find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes!

Don’t miss next meeting when we will have a hand-over ceremony of the Jazz for Juvenile Diabetes proceeds! We will be presenting a check to Linda Riley, Executive Director of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation San Diego, to open our next meeting and it is important that everyone arrives early so we can begin on time. Linda has another appointment after ours and cannot stay for the meeting so please show her your support by budgeting a few extra minutes to get to KC BBQ before 6:30 pm.

Congratulations to all on a job well done!!
San Diego Rotaract PR Contest

We are beginning a campaign for new PR ideas in 2005! Please contact Jomi with your most original idea for promoting Rotaract. The board will evaluate all submissions and will announce the best idea and implement your program!! Winner receives a prize...
January Social: NFL Playoffs Party

January 23 (Sunday)
11:45 am - ? (kick-off for the NFC Championship game is at noon and the AFC Championship will begin right after the NFC game ends)
Kansas City BBQ, 610 W. Market Street, back room

Join us for our annual football playoffs party. Save the date and watch for an evite with more details. Be sure to participate in the football pool since half of the proceeds will go towards TJ Home Building!

For more information about the football pool, please contact Geoff.
For more information about the party, please contact Rose.
Football Squareboards Fundraiser

Football Squareboards to Raise Money for TJ Homebuilding

We’ll be playing our 2nd Annual Football Squares boards at the AFC/NFC Championship game party at Kansas City BBQ. We began selling squares (they cost $2 each) at our last meeting and we would like to be able to have all 200 sold by the end of next meeting so we can draw the numbers and everyone can have their squares before they get to the party that day.

If you have no idea what any of that stuff means, don’t worry! You don’t need to know anything about football to win and remember, half of all the square money goes right to TJ Homebuilding (we will raise $200 toward next year’s houses through this game). Just bring $4 to the meeting on Jan. 18 and/or email Geoff with any questions.
Rotaract Member of the Month

Congrats to Josh Slodki, Rotaract Member of the Month!

Josh Slodki was named Rotaract Member of the Month for November, 2004 at our meeting last Tuesday. Josh was instrumental in the TJ Homebuilding Project, singlehandedly raising enough money for us to build an entire house and driving a carload of people to the job site as well. And his berry-apple pies were the hit of the Thanksgiving meeting at the Toussaint Academy!

Our Member of the Month for December will be announced at our next meeting. Come see who will win!

Rotaract & Rotary Trivia

Cyber Rotaract Clubs Pilot Project

At its February 2003 meeting the RI Board of Directors agreed to support the establishment of cyber Rotaract clubs as a three-year pilot project. Using electronic technology as the primary means of communication among members, the pilot project is testing an alternative Rotaract club model.

The cyber clubs may help promote membership growth and retention for Rotaract clubs that struggle to hold regular meetings and expand membership. Any Rotaract club, either newly formed or currently active, that wishes to participate in the pilot project may apply. If you would like more information on how to start your own cyber Rotaract club, please contact us.
