| Happy New Year from Rotaract! Welcome to 2005, Rotary’s 100th year! Please join us Tuesday, January 4, for our first meeting of the year!! 2004 was a landmark year for the Rotaract Club of Downtown San Diego and we thank you all for sharing it with us. We have even bigger and better plans for 2005 and we’re jumping right in and getting started. January will feature a visit to the USS Midway, a classic Rotaract football party, planning for our Centennial Project, and a new fundraising program that will unite all of our big events! You won’t want to miss a single second of the action so please mark your calendars for our first meeting of the year, Tuesday, January 4 at 6:30 pm at Kansas City BBQ. | First Rotary Meeting Aboard the USS
Midway! January 05, 2005 (Wednesday) 7:00 - 8:30 am Midway Carrier Museum, Navy Pier, Foot of Broadway, Downtown Our sponsoring Rotary club, the Downtown Breakfast Rotary, will be holding their first meeting of the year off-site and off shore! Wednesday January 5 from 7:00 to 8:30 am, the USS Midway will be flying the Rotary flag. After the meeting, we will be given a tour of the ship by Admiral Mac McLaughlin, who is the President/ CEO of the Midway Carrier Museum. We are very lucky to have been granted permission by the people of the Midway to hold this meeting on their decks and special thanks go to Rotary President, Ron Erbetta, and military liaison, Joe Ciokon, for making arrangements. If you’ve never been aboard the Midway, this promises to be a memorable experience! Remember that Prospects earn credit toward Rotaract Membership by attending one Breakfast Rotary meeting and members are always welcome, too. Please check out the details for RSVP, parking, and costs: Parking at navy pier is $7 but there is metered parking close by. Boarding will begin at 7 a.m. and breakfast will be served on the fantail of the ship. Those who are interested must RSVP via e-mail to Nancy Vaughn at Nancyfly@aol.com. We will have the names of the members who have signed up on board and will be collecting $10 per guest in attendance. |
