Third Annual Jazz for Juvenile Diabetes

December 9, 2004
7:00 pm – 10:30 pm
THIN (825 5th Avenue, above The Onyx Room, Gaslamp Quarter)

You Are Invited!
On December 9th from 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm, the Rotaract Club of Downtown San Diego will hold its Third Annual Jazz for Juvenile Diabetes event at THIN (825 5th Ave) in the Gaslamp Quarter. Proceeds from the event will benefit the San Diego Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Yummy Food and Latin Beats!
For the second year in a row, Jazz 88 will co-sponsor the benefit. This year’s headliner, the Caballero-Verde Quintet, provides a Latin flare that promises to get people on the dance floor. Gringo’s restaurant of Pacific Beach will be teaming with the Downtown Rotaract Club for a second year as well, providing a full buffet to continue the Latin theme.

Look Sharp and Be SEEN!
San Diego Magazine will be at the event taking pictures for the SEEN section of San Diego Magazine. Look sharp and be SEEN by all of San Diego!

Find A Cure!
Each year, over 3,000 people die from diabetes related complications in California alone. Over 30,000 are diagnosed every year in this country. A treatment for juvenile diabetes is closer than ever and the Downtown Rotaract Club is determined to help the Foundation and researchers find a cure.

Get Your Tickets! Space Is Limited!
Tickets are available online at www.sdrotaract.org or by calling 619-248-2818. Tickets are $30 to the general public and the event is expected to sell out! Please tell your family, friends and coworkers, and we can't wait to see you there!

Rotaract & Rotary Trivia

Can two Rotary clubs sponsor one Rotaract club?

Yes, a Rotaract club can be organized and sponsored jointly by more than one Rotary club under the following conditions:
  • The district governor approves the joint sponsorship in writing;
  • The circumstances must be such that the organization of separate Rotaract clubs, each sponsored by a single Rotary club, would create an artificial division of what is essentially a single body of young adults in the community or university;
  • A joint Rotaract committee is formed with members of each sponsoring Rotary club; and
  • Each member of the Rotaract club agrees to adhere to the constitution and bylaws of the club.
