Next Meeting

Our next general meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 21st, 2004 at 6:30 pm at Kansas City BBQ, 610 W. Market Street, Downtown San Diego.
We're looking forward to seeing you there!
Tijuana Homebuilding in October

October 9th (Saturday)
On Saturday, October 9th, in collaboration with the Downtown Breakfast Rotary and the Tijuana Rotaract Club, Rotaract Club of Downtown San Diego members will be heading South of the Border on a day-long trip to help build homes for needy families in Tijuana, México. No experience necessary.
This is one of the most impactful community programs in Downtown Rotaract history. We have over 20 people already signed up to attend. You won’t want to miss it!
We are signing people up based on membership first, so if you are a prospect, please do everything you can to fill your membership requirements in September so we can give you priority status and can guarantee your place on the homebuilding crew.
To learn more about this worthwhile project, please visit México Caravan Ministries' website at http://www.mcministries.net, or feel free to contact your Club's International Chair, Denisse Roldán.
Olympian Tim Seaman to Speak to Downtown Rotary Tomorrow!

September 15th (Wednesday)
Our Olympic friend, Tim Seaman, is back from Athens and will be the featured speaker at the Rotary meeting this week. Find out firsthand how his race went, what the heat was like, security for the athletes, the Closing Ceremonies, and ask Tim anything that you were curious about while watching the Games. If you missed seeing Tim at our Olympic Training Center visit in July, this is your chance to hear him speak!
This will be a great way for you to fulfill your membership requirements and/or enjoy the morning view of Downtown with our sponsoring Rotarian friends. The Downtown San Diego Breakfast Rotary Club meets at 7:00 am at the University Club (34th floor) high atop Symphony Towers on 750 B Street.
San Diego Festival of Beer - Volunteer Opportunity

September 24th (Friday)
Join us in the streets of Downtown San Diego to help pour beer for a good cause. The San Diego Festival of Beer, on Friday, September 24, needs volunteers to help pour beer for this amazing event. Our shift will be from 8:30 pm - midnight, although the coordinators say our shift will most likely end earlier than that. This event is located in Downtown, at Columbia and B streets, and will host over 3,000 people with beer from over 100 microbrews supplied by more than 40 participating breweries. They also feature live music for your listening and dancing pleasure, and food vendors selling a variety of edibles.
To volunteer, e-mail Andrea Espinoza or Carl Tiu. We already have approximately 15 Rotaract volunteers, so the more the merrier!
Jazz For Juvenile Diabetes

December
THIN has been secured as the venue. Event date will be either December 2 or 9. Talent and sponsorship is lining up. Committees have been formed.
This year is going to be a huge success! Let Evan know if you want to volunteer for the event.
To view photos of last year's event, check out: Photos - Jazz for Junvenile Diabetes.
Entertainment Books

Entertainment Books will be available at the first meeting of October. We’ll focus on an online campaign. Books are $40 and Rotaract receives $8 per book, plus an incentive rewards program that nets a total of $200 to Rotaract for every 21 books sold! Check it out at www.entertainment.com.
More info to come in next week’s newsletter on how to buy/sell online (for any city in the USA!). Check back next week!
